ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Mr Madan Prasad Bezbaruah, IAS (Retd.)  former Secretary to   Ministry of Tourism, India is an internationally recognized tourism professional. He represented India in the Executive Committee of UNWTO for five years and was later member of UNWO’’s Strategic Group. UNWTO made him its Honorary Permanent Representative for his contribution to global tourism. He was also Chairman PATA, consultant to ADB and UNWTO, and Member NE Council in the rank of Minister of State. He has spoken at numerous national and international fora like UN-World Tourism Organization, ESCAP, WorldBank, Pacific Asia Travel Association, Canadian Tourism Commission,  China National Tourism Authority,  Japan Tourism Board,  Monaco World Summit,  International Peace Institute etc.Besides numerous articles and book chapters he authored three books- 'Indian Tourism: Beyond the Millennium", “The Guest is God-Reflections on Tourism”, “Frontiers of New Tourism" and is the Chief Editor  of five volume encyclopaedia- "Fairs and Festivals of India" . A first-class M.A from Delhi School of Economics he is also an MPA from Harvard University.
