ABOUT THE BOOK

Higher education in India has under gone phenomenal transition in the past two decades. It has acquired unprecedented growth of private institutions, salient proliferation of technical and professional disciplines, increasing use of information and communication technology, and expanding global linkages. As a result, there have appeared critical concerns about its commercialisation, unequal access, declining quality and low global ranking. The book provides an in-depth analysis of such trends of change and emerging issues. In particular, it focuses on the upsurge of private enterprise in education and its repercussions on the access and quality of higher education. It also offers roadmap for promoting quality education in India with a competitive edge. All stakeholders in education, including educational entrepreneurs, policy makers, educational administrators, academic professionals, and students will find the book of great value. Indian higher education landscape needs systematic changes. This book provides a roadmap for the future to make it globally relevant. It emphasises that the Vedic era, apart from bestowing a treasure trove of knowledge, also provides a rich legacy of pedagogy and methodology for knowledge creation. This volume suggests measures related to regulation, accreditation, internationalisation, ranking of higher education institutions and training of academic
leaders. A unique model based on the concept of social business has been highlighted. It also outlines grassroot-level steps to improve standards of research , teaching - learning , curriculum development, vocational training and embracing liberal education to meet the aspirations. I hope that academic administrators, policy makers, education
instructors and researches will find the insights of these studies for various purpose.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. K. Kamala, M.A., B.Ed., Ph.D. NET., SET. is a Assistant Professor, Dept. of Political Science, Government Degree College for Women (A+ Autonomous) Begumpet, (Affiliated) to Osmania University, Hyderabad, Telangana State , India . She was awarded Doctorate from the Department of Political Science, Osmania University Hyderabad, India, on “Demand for smaller states: A study of Telangana” in the year 2017. To her credit she has conducted a two day International conference on “New Dimensions in Higher Education in the Post Covid-19: Global Perspective”Collaboration with ICSSR, TSCHE and NAAC in the year 2022 and she has conducted a two-day National seminar on “Higher Education in India: Emerging Challenges” in Collaboration with ICSSR, TSCHE and RUSA in the year 2019 and Conducted National Webinazr on “Determinants of Indian Foreign Policy”. She has written four books and has edited five books and also published eight book reviews and published 19 articles in UGC care list various journal. She has been awarded Vidya Bharati Award India 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, National best Teacher Award and International scientist best faculty award. She is the Editor-in-Chief International Journal of Political Science (IJOPS), She is the Associate Editor for 04 International Journals and Member of Editorial Board & Reviewer for nearly 39 UGC care list Peer- Reviewed and Refereed Journals of National and International Level Journals for nearly 16 countries like USA, Turkey, Bangladesh, Syria, UK, Pak, China and India etc. She has 13 National and International memberships in various associations. She has been member of Board of Studies in the Dept. of Political Science, Osmania University during 2017- 2019. She has presented papers in more than one dozen in International and National Conferences and seminars. She has published 16 National and 27 International Level Peer Reviewed / Refereed Research Journal. She has more than 17 years of teaching and research experience. She is primarily interested in teaching and research in the areas of public policy and political theory.

Dr. K. Padmavathi, Msc., M.Phil., Ph.D. Presently she is the Principal Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous) Begumpet, accredited with A+ (Affiliated) to Osmania University, Hyderabad, Telangana State, India. She was awarded Doctorate from the Department of Statistics, Osmania University Hyderabad, India, on “Variable band with kernel quantile estimation with applications to quality control” in the year 2003 and awarded M.Phil on “A study of applied regression analysis” in 1995 from Osmania university. To her credit she has done a Minor research project sponsored by UGC in the year 2012 and she has also conducted UGC sponsored regional SAM workshop as a coordinator. She worked has Deputy Secretary (DC) O/o Secretary, Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TWREIS). She also worked as a Principal of various colleges of Government Degree College, Metpally, BJR GDC, Narayanaguda AKLR Oriental College, Nagarjuna, GDC, Nalgonda, GDC Alair, and as a Special Officer, commissioner of Collegiate Education, Govt of Telangana, and Deputy Director, Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Govt of AP. She has won state level Best NCC officer and also was the first to won Commandants Gold Medal. She has memberships in National and International associations. She has been member of Board of Studies in the Dept. of Statistics, Osmania University and Member of executive council MG University during 2018-2019. She has attended National & International
Conferences. She is UGC Certified Trainer in Capacity building for Women Managers in Higher Education and also a Core committee member, for bringing out textbook on
“Gender Equity” in the State of Telangana and a member of the committee constituted by Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) to study on the formation of Pilot Cluster Colleges and has a great commitment and passion.
