ABOUT THE BOOK

Mapping COVID-19: A Multidisciplinary Approach is an edited work containing the reflections of academicians from diverse fields and working in different parts of the country. The spirit behind the attempt is to reach an understanding of the effects of COVID-19 on different facets of life as well as on the various parts of the society. The research papers
included in the book seek to assess the scenario in the wake of the pandemic at both local and global level. Hence, beginning with historicizing pandemics in general, it proceeds with conceptualization of COVID-19 and carries on the deliberations with the topics like world scenario; the pandemic and human rights; health challenges in the period; effects on education, economy, environment, and migrant workers; and the role of political institutions in these hard times. Further, there is also a discussion on the mechanisms to minimize the negative consequences of the calamity.
The book is going to be a real help for the students and academicians working on the pandemic across the disciplines—social sciences, commerce, computer science as well as natural sciences.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal's microscopic insight into the life-local as well as global and her spirit to share her perceptions to create awareness is the force behind the book in hand. As an academician and administrator, her experiences range from teaching in PAU, Ludhiana, and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Faridkot, Punjab, to serving Panjab University, Chandigarh as a member of its senate and syndicate; Punjab School Education Board as its Chairperson; and having been a member of Punjab Public Service Commission. She made her rich contribute reform the Curriculum, Examination and Evaluation of school education system and higher education system being in the position of Chairperson of the P.S.E.B and senate syndicate meeting. She has been a research guide and has got several research papers published at national and international level. An impressive orator, she is often invited to deliver talks not only in HEIs but also in various T.V. and Radio programmes. No wonder she holds a number of distinctions and awards from different government and non-government organizations. Presently, Dr. Dhaliwal is in the charge of the dual responsibility of the Principal, Guru Nanak College, Muktsar, and the Director, Directorate of Education, S.G.P.C., Amritsar.

Dr. Bali Bahadur is a topper in MA Sociology from Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar in 2005. He was awarded PhD from Guru Nanak Dev University for his pioneering work “Emigration of Punjabi Dalits to the Middle East Countries: a Sociological study”. He served in Ministry of Rural Development Govt. of India as Assistant Project Officer for two years and deputed in various departments and agencies during his tenure. He joined teaching profession in 2007 from Guru Nanak College for Girls Sri Muktsar Sahib,
Punjab. Presently he is heading the Post Graduate Department of Sociology. He has participated in many national and international conferences, seminars and workshops in various countries and presented papers on the issues concerning emigration, human rights, sociology etc. He has contributed a large number of research papers/ articles in journals and books of national and international repute. In 2019 he has been awarded with an award of best employee of the decade for his valuable services as Dean Students' Welfare. He is a life member of many academic and professional international organizations. He is also member of board of study of Punjab school Education Board Mohali and Member of under graduate board of studies Panjab University Chandigarh. He is also acting as President, Vice president and member of various social welfare organizations.
