J.N. Dixit, Ambassador to Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, former Foreign Secretary of India and former Member of the National Secutrity Advisory Board, has had a distinguished and varied career. After having served in the Indian Foreign Service for 36 years, from 1958 to 1994, he has been equally, if not more active, as an academic, a political colunminst and a consultant on political and security affairs during the last 8 years. This is the 8th book authored by him since 1995 and the second one which Gyan Publishing Hous in bringing out. The articles in this book is cover developments since the summer of 2001 and have the stamp of his keen observation and analytical capacities.
